cement

topic posted Thu, October 5, 2006 - 2:03 PM by  Judith
I am laying a new walk way. I'd like to color the cement. How do I do this? I have learned how to put stones in, but not the color. I have seen colored cement, is it in the mix or painted on top?

I would be grateful for any advice.

    hi Judith,

the concrete is colored using an additive in the form of powder, liquid or even granules. I wouldn't advise painting on top of concrete; you can but it won't last as long.

      Thanks for the info.

Is this something I can pick up at Home Depot or like places? Would you have a product name for me to ask them for? I've been to True Value to ask about this sort of item, they were clueless, they told me no such thing existed.

      Thanks again

unfortunately most stores sales associates aren't builders so they don't really know what's out there!

        try this brand: www.daviscolors.com/
punch in your zip code and see what stores come up.

go to a concrete supplier they will definitely have it! or shop were the pros shop, at real building material stores. i rarely go to Home Depot so i don't know what they carry.
