Hi everyone, my name is Jennifer and I am new to this tribe as you see ^ there.

I own a deck company and also finish basements in the winter. www.uniquedecks.com

I was really happy to see this tribe and just had to get in the mix.
Thanks for making it Sarah!

    On the High-Voltage P/L:

VERY Controversial in these parts, lots of protesters. Many earth gaurdians screaming foul @ the Power Company.

It sucks that I always seem to find myself in the middle of the biggest most controversial project whereever I may be.

My bartender@Pizza Luce greets me in the eves by saying "so, killed any endangered species today?"

FYI bartender bob: the new 120' easement is being based on an existing 75' elec.easement C/L. Only 30' of the approx.700miles of p/l is new clearcut.

It does suck that people's land is being taken w/or w/out their permission. But that's the risk you take when you buy property.

The other big argument against this project is that people protest the High Voltage part: it is apparently bad for people and livestock (farmland).

I ask each person who attacks me w/this argument (keep in mind I don't go around telling people where I work) if they've ever visited the MN Power website and voluntarily elected to pay more per kilowatt hour; in exchange: MN Power gaurantees that part, if not all, their electric will be supplied by an alternative source of power (ie.windmills in southern MN).

It clearly states in the website, per their mission statement, that they will supply demand. And, as demand for alternative energies increases, so will the supply. I bet my job and a year's pay that if every individual in the twin ports payed more per kilowatt hour, MN Power would take the billions invested in this P/L and move it into other avenues.

So far, I haven't met one person (except myself) who has elected to buy wind generated power.

Jenn: how did you come to own your own business? There are a couple business owners in this tribe: please let us know what some of costs/logistics/challenges are in starting up and running a successful business.
